Scratch Game Design

Hey guys Happy Thanksgiving! This week of G.T, we have made Chase games and Platform games.  My chase  game is about A gorilla named Bobo chasing after a  monkey named Banana and my platform game is about a unicorn trying to catch all the birthday cakes. When I started making the game I had to choose my sprites or a computer graphics that adds complexity in the design of the game. I chose a gorilla and a monkey because I thought the monkey would be a great character to control, and the gorilla kinda reminded me of Donkey Kong so, I decided the gorilla would be the villain. I chose a unicorn and a cake because I thought it would be a fun combo.

I think I did a great job on the platformer game but, I need to work on my chase game. Since this was my first time making a video game, I had some difficulties making this game but, I think it could of have become a little better by watching more tutorials and using my time more wisely. Although, I think I could have done better by making them run more smoothly and also instead of Banana rotating while he moves, he could walk form side to side. I also had a hard time figuring out how to set up the timer and score board.

What I like about this project is that everybody's project was the same game but in a way, they were different. For an example, not everybody made a game about a gorilla chasing a monkey or evil bats chasing a sprite named Nano. In fact, my friend Tierra made a game where instead of having the game programmed to chase you, you would be the one to chase while you would get points. One of my favorite chase games are made by a friend of mine named, Kaile. Her game is about a My little pony being chased by a majestic unicorn (which are one of my favorite animals). During Kaile's game, you can even earn points by collecting tacos! Please make sure to check out their blogs to try out their awesome games!

Invention Commercial

Last Monday at G.T, we were watching the commercial videos my classmates have made. In our team, our main goals is to explain how our invention works without confusing our audience, and to also entertain them with some jokes we added in our script. For an example, our homeroom teacher mrs. Fujimoto agreed to be Tierra's grandma even though she is not, which made the whole class burst into laughter. Even mr. Sanderl when we were about to upload it!

I think the best team moment during the production, was when we were filming the part when I threw the flower at Christina. I think it was the best team moment because we really bonded and had fun. Plus, we all laughed when we watched myself (in point of view) throwing a flower at Christina, while she tries to dodge it. Another great team moment during the production, was when we filmed Tierra standing next to our homeroom teacher, mrs. Fujimoto. This scene was also was very funny and was fun to film with my team.

During post-production editing, we took turns on different jobs like, events, visuals, and audio. I mostly did the events, Tierra did visuals, and Christina did audio. Overall, I think this is one of my best projects and I think it was a great idea to be partners with Tierra and Christina.I hope you liked this blog post. Also, I hope you guys will have a great Thanksgiving. Bye!

Composition Scavenger Hunt

P3T1_Composition_2015 from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Hi guys it's Hailee with another dorky post! Last week, I did a Composition Scavenger Hunt with my friends Christina and Tierra.

Their is 20 different kinds of composition techniques but, we all only got 10 composition techniques to film depending on what our team number was. In this project we had to make a video on some filming techniques using objects from school. I think the most important composition technique is contrast in content. This is my opinion because it draws the viewers eye to the subject by color, shape, or objects. In my opinion, I think it's a great way of capturing a pop of color in everyday life.
To be honest, I think the most difficult composition technique is forced foreground. Even though I did not film this technique, I saw the videos my classmates made and then I noticed some of them had a hard time filming the object they were holding. Instead of the camera focusing on the object they were holding, the camera was focusing on the person holding that object. Forced foreground is one of the composition techniques I have learned. You can use this technique more by placing the camera as close as you can to the object.

For this project, we would alternate who would film, who would read, and who would be the actor. I was mostly the actor even though I filmed a lot and explained how to use that composition technique. Tierra would mostly film and speak and Christina would sometimes speak. I personally think we could of done better by using pad because some of our clips were cut off. Some shots we can approve on is Rule of Thirds scenery, Leading lines, and Framing.Even though we need to improve some of these techniques, I think this was a great project and was very fun to do. I hope you liked this blog post and make sure you check out Tierra and Christina's blog. Bye!

Cracking the Code

Hi guys its Hailee with another blog post! So, this week i've been learning how to code. In my class, we have been on this website called " Studio Code" and have been practicing our coding skills. I think that everybody should learn how to code because, most jobs include coding. Also, coding can give you many ideas about inventions that would include coding.

Mr. Sanderl assigned us our first lesson of coding on a coding website. The website was designed to teach kids how to code. Their would be different levels from 1-20 that we would have to solve in order to get a certificate. So far, I have passed lesson 1 and will move on to lesson 2, 3, 4, etc. During my few days of coding, I am starting to enjoy it and excited about what comes next.

If I could design any program or game, I would create a program that would be called "Artistic". In this program, it will have mini lessons on how to become a better artist. Also, their would be a search bar to search up any character from a cartoon, a famous celebrity, scenery, etc. to learn how to draw. It would also have a social media section, where you can discover what other users have been drawing and learn how they drew it by following them. I hope you guys will like my idea bye!

My Humorous Monologue

KawakamiH_Comedy from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Hey guys its Hailee with another dorky post! So last week we started filming our monologue and clips. In this blog post, I will be explaining what have I have learned from this project and why is padding your clips is important . So far, I learned how to use iMovie, how to take care of something with full responsibility, how our projects will be graded, and steps to make a very humorous joke. I hope you guys enjoy this post.

Why is padding important for your clips? Well, I did some research online from a website called "Blogger buster". According to blog buster, "Padding defines the space which surrounds the content within an element. " Defining the padding of each elements may be crucial in achieving a user friendly template design." That So, thanks for the definition Blogger buster!

To be honest, I actually liked this project way better than the motivational poster project because, it was very interesting how everyone else's video came out. I think my weakness was my topic because it was kinda hard to create 10 different topics on why alarm clocks are amazing (no their not). I think when you first pick a topic, try find one that you know that everybody would find funny. For an example, try do an impersonation on a famous youtuber like Miranda Sings! Wear a collared shirt with blue stripes and apply red lipstick all over you lips! Anyway, I hope you liked my post and see you in my next blog post. Bye!

Comedy writing

Hey guys it's Hailee! Hope you had a great day today. Anyway, in this blog post I will explain why is humor such a great character trait. Humor is a great character trait because it makes people laugh and breaks the ice between people during awkward  moments. It also a way to make new friends. So sit back, relax, and keep on reading my tutorial on how to create a really funny joke.

One kind of joke is a  sarcastic joke. Try think about something you dislike then, write that it's like the best thing ever! Like, saying "Homework is fun". Although, make sure your joke doesn't offend anybody. Especially no jokes based on religion, race, gender, etc. Also, you should make sure you check out with an adult if it's offensive to make sure. If you are having trouble coming up with a joke, try to jazz up a classic joke. For an example, most of you guys heard about the chicken that crossed the road, but have you heard about the pig who crossed the whole world just to go to pizza hut? For more help, click on the links on my  that will lead you to my classmates blogs for more information about comedy writing.

So, this weeks project was to create a comedic monologue. I made a joke about alarm clocks being the best thing ever, even though it's not. I wrote all the things I disliked about alarm clocks, but still made it sound like I loved it. I also added visuals to relate to every line.  I think my monologue is funny, because most people don't like alarm clocks and how they make an annoying sound every morning, so I think it would be funny to say "alarm clocks are the best invention ever!!!" Thank you guys for reading my blog and see you next time in my future blog post. Bye!

Motivational Poster

Hi guys! Hope you are having a great National dog's day. As far as my two furry friends Persephone and Kina, they really had a great day. In class we have been doing a photoshop project called "Motivational poster". In this post I will tell you the steps and what is required for this project. So sit back, relax, and and I hope my tutorial will help you in creating your very own motivational poster. In this project I used some photos from my google plus account.

First,  we need 2 text layers. One text layer is for your manifestos, the other is for your personal quotes. After that, you need to kern or adjust the spacing between a text so it would form a box. While you kern, their should be no blank space left over. It's like a jigsaw puzzle, everything has to fit. Next, you need a picture of yourself. So, I partnered with my friend, Christina. We both took turns taking pictures. Then, we had to upload the photos to the computer for photoshop. After that, we arranged our four photos and made sure they were visually balanced. Then, we had to pick a color from the triadic color wheel. Now you have to use the colors for your photos and text.

I hope that you found my tutorial helpful on making your very own motivational poster. I think the most challenging step is, kerning because you have to adjust the spacing between text and make words either tall, short, narrow, or wide. It takes days! Anyway, stay tuned for my future blog posts. Bye!

Personal Manifesto

Hi my name is Hailee and i'm going to tell you 5 unique facts about me so you can get to know me better. One unique fact about me is that I like to play video games with my dad.  Secondly,  I love reading horror stories. Another fact about me, is that my horoscope is pieces which means I'm born in February. I also love drawing. Especially anime! Lastly, I went to Japan for the first time this past summer break. I went to Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Tokyo. I love Japan's food, culture, people, shopping malls, and it's technology. Ever since I went to Japan, I've been wishing to go back.

A manifesto is a statement that you believe in and motivates you. Some manifestos  that make me motivated and inspire are, don't dream it be it, laugh, be grateful, choose to be kind, work hard, study hard, be helpful, smile, have fun,  give everything an 100% effort, inspire, stand up for the people you love, girl power, you shouldn't care what other people think,  trust who you think should be trusted, keep trying, and aim to be bold. The reason why I am telling you all of this is because this blog is used for my computer  class.

I believe that my manifesto relates to a majority of readers because I feel that my values and my beliefs are representative of the thoughts, ideas, and beliefs, of the majority at large.
Thank you for reading my blog and I will continue writing in the future.
