Music Video Finale

P3T8 Work From Home from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Hey everyone it's Hailee! This week's project is music videos. For this project, I'm working with my friend, Tierra and her sister, Talia. We are doing the song, Work from home by, Fifth Harmony. The lyrics relate to our storyline because, it's about these two girls missing their friend because she always works at Starbucks. At the end, their friend ends up spending more time with them.

My favorite fast-edit montage sequence is in the beginning when I lip sync my part then, it switches to Tierra. I like this fast-edit montage because, when it switches to Tierra, it shows some of my hair. This makes the shot look like I'm looking at Tierra while Tierra lip synchs her part.

This music video showcases most of our learning with filming and editing. This music video will include close, medium and wide shots. I really like this project and I think its a good way to end the school year. Their will also be some green screen effects. Hope you guys enjoyed my last blog post. Bye everyone!

Animated Life Lessons

P3T9 Family Avoids Starvation from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.
Hey guys it's Hailee with another blog post. This week's project is another animation. For this project, we are all working with people who we wouldn't normally work with. I'm working with Ashton and Alaka'i. In our animation, we are using are own character traits. Since I'm really silly and hate to do chores, I play a girl who causes her family to starve, since she is slacking off, not doing her work. In real life, Ashton likes helping people so, he plays the main role of the brother who wants to help his family. Alaka'i is a nice person so, he plays the nice person.

The whole purpose of this animation is that we should all work hard in life so we can later on meet success. I think this life message might relate to some of you guys because I think that we all want to be successful later on in life. We all want food, a home, clothing, and all of those wonderful things. I also think at this age, we all need a reminder that we need to work hard to get what we want and need.

During this project,  our level of productivity was very, very low since we hardly knew each other. This caused a lot of problems with communication. Usually, if I was working with my friends on this project such as Tierra, it wouldn't be a problem since we're really good friends and that we're used to talking to each other. When I  was working with Ashton and Alaka'i, it was awkward because I was the only girl in that group and I hardly knew them. I personally think the best moment of the production was the end. This is my opinion because I have a love/hate relationship with Photoshop and this project was super STRESSFUL! But, I'm happy I got the chance to work with new people<3 I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Bye :)

Character Development

Hey guys! So, this weeks project is animation with puppets. We are creating these puppets in Photoshop with a tool called Puppet warp. Puppet warp is used to add points on their object to control the object, like a puppet, creating animation. Some humorous or relatable imperfections I have is that sometimes I can be shy, mean, clumsy, weird and I'm really bad at math. Also, I can be really immature and it can annoy people. Although, my humor and weirdness can entertain most people.

I'm planning to include some of my character traits in my animation. Some character traits I'll include are my sense of humor and my weirdness. I love dancing so, I'll maybe put a few dabs in there. I'm planning to make this animation as real as possible. I also added a background of a beach that I took a picture of. You might recognize this photo from one of my polar panorama projects.

First, mr. Sanderl took 3 pictures of each of us. He took pictures of the front, back and side of ourselves in front of the green screen. We then, uploaded the photos to our finder to then, open them up in Photoshop. After opening the photos in Photoshop, I used the quick selection tool to cut myself out from the green screen. I used refine edge and feather to clean the edges. I also used the eraser to clean the spaces between my fingers and other places where the quick selection tool couldn't select. Then, I created my GIF animation by creating a loop of frames. I had a difficult time with this part so I asked for help from mr. Sanderl. After that, I went to my finder folder and dragged and drop a photo to use for my background. I love my GIF character because I honestly dab a lot. I hope you guys liked this blog post. Bye :)

.MOV Film Festival

P3T2 Kailes Explores Talent from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.
It's Hailee. This weeks project is filming. My group and I chose to film a movie trailer called "Kaile Explores Talent". It's about a shy girl named, Kaile wanting to sign up for the talent show. Although Tierra tries to discourage her. I play Kaile's best and supportive friend that convinces Kaile to join. The keywords to our movie trailer are courage, talent, risk, support, jealousy, friendship, unique, and brave. I think these keywords connect with our audience because these keywords are feelings and actions that most people do and say. For example, most people do feel jealous.

The main message to our movie trailer is that people should take risks in life even though they might be scared to. Also, you shouldn't let someone discourage you to do things such as, signing up for the talent show. In the end, Tierra apologizes to Kaile saying that she is sorry for discouraging her and for being very rude and unkind to her. Kaile then forgives Tierra. All three girls then become friends.

The biggest challenge we all faced was our filming time. We were pretty much all busy due to after school activities and even some weekend activities. We could not find some free time to film. From sports to tap dance, we were all busy. The only time we could film was mostly at school. In the end, we all filmed at a pavilion in Lydgate.Overall, I thought we all did a wonderful job on this project. I hope you enjoyed this post and stay tuned for my next one. Bye!

Tiny Spherical Worlds

Hey guys its Hailee with another blog post! This weeks project is polar and spherical panoramas. In order to create a polar or spherical panorama, you will need to take multiple photos around you to capture the scene to create a perfect planet or crystal ball effect in Photoshop. Also, if you only use one photo, your finished project will end up looking weird and boring. When you use multiple photos to put them together to re-create the scene, it will look like a small world/crystal ball.

The difference between Polar spherical panoramas is that polar panoramas look like small little planets while, spherical panoramas look like a crystal ball or snow globe. I personally like the Polar panorama better than the Spherical panorama because I like how it looks like a small world. Polar panoramas also remind me of the Universal studios logo. Another reason why both panoramas are different is because the process is different in a little but, important way. When you make a Polar panorama, you have to flip the picture upside down. When you make a Spherical panorama, you leave the photo right side up.

I think what makes my tiny worlds look so convincing and realistic is that I used a tool in Photoshop called the "Clone stamp". The Clone stamp helps make my tiny world  look realistic by fixing imperfections such as lines, trees, etc. Also, before we make a panorama, we have to edit the photos in a program called Bridge. In Bridge, their is a feature called Camera Raw. In Camera Raw, it allows you to make your photos really pop with color. I hope you liked this weeks blog post. Bye!

Hockney Style Joiners

Hey guys it's Hailee. This weeks project was photomontages. I think David Hockney's photomontages are different from mine because, he would take his pictures on poloroids, while I take pictures on my iPhone 6 and Mr. Sanderl's camera. After a while, David Hockney switched to oil paints, then to acrylic paints.

Images can send a lot of emotions to people when they first see an image. Just like the quote, "A picture is worth a thousand words" you can feel either positive or negative emotions. For an example, whenever i see a photo with a lot of  light blue or purple, I find it very calming. If i see a picture with dark clouds or an image with gloomy colors such as gray, I feel a little sad or depressed.

For my final photomontage, I took a picture of my dog, Persephone. The reason why I picked her to be my main subject for our final photomontage is because we had to take 25 photos of something meaningful to you. Persephone is meaningful to me because she is my first pet. When people see my photomontage of Persephone, I want them to feel happy because, when I first got her, I was happy. Also, if you look closely at that photo, you can see that Persephone is smiling. I hope you guys liked this blog post. Bye!

2016 Aspirations

Hey guys it's Hailee and Happy New year! I have a feeling 2016 is going to be way better than 2015. To make sure 2016 will be a better year, I have made goals.  My top 5 goals for 2016 is to improve my drawing skills, to take nice artsy photos, to spend less money, to explore the world, and to be a better younger sister. So far, I have been doing great to meet my goals.

All of my goals are really important to me. But, if I had to choose the most important goal to me it would be improving my drawing skills. I personally think I can draw pretty good. I just want to get even better at drawing. The reason why this goal is really important to me because, ever since I was little, I  always loved drawing. So, I want to keep on drawing so I can improve.

In order to reach my goal, I came up with some with some steps to help me reach my goal. First, to start the new year, I bought a new sketch book to help inspire me to create new sketches. I also bought a bag to keep all my art supplies in it to so all of my supplies will be organized and easy to find. I also have been watching tutorials on Youtube. So these are my goals for 2016. I hope you liked this blog post and see you in my next post!

Scratch Game Design

Hey guys Happy Thanksgiving! This week of G.T, we have made Chase games and Platform games.  My chase  game is about A gorilla named Bobo chasing after a  monkey named Banana and my platform game is about a unicorn trying to catch all the birthday cakes. When I started making the game I had to choose my sprites or a computer graphics that adds complexity in the design of the game. I chose a gorilla and a monkey because I thought the monkey would be a great character to control, and the gorilla kinda reminded me of Donkey Kong so, I decided the gorilla would be the villain. I chose a unicorn and a cake because I thought it would be a fun combo.

I think I did a great job on the platformer game but, I need to work on my chase game. Since this was my first time making a video game, I had some difficulties making this game but, I think it could of have become a little better by watching more tutorials and using my time more wisely. Although, I think I could have done better by making them run more smoothly and also instead of Banana rotating while he moves, he could walk form side to side. I also had a hard time figuring out how to set up the timer and score board.

What I like about this project is that everybody's project was the same game but in a way, they were different. For an example, not everybody made a game about a gorilla chasing a monkey or evil bats chasing a sprite named Nano. In fact, my friend Tierra made a game where instead of having the game programmed to chase you, you would be the one to chase while you would get points. One of my favorite chase games are made by a friend of mine named, Kaile. Her game is about a My little pony being chased by a majestic unicorn (which are one of my favorite animals). During Kaile's game, you can even earn points by collecting tacos! Please make sure to check out their blogs to try out their awesome games!

Invention Commercial

Last Monday at G.T, we were watching the commercial videos my classmates have made. In our team, our main goals is to explain how our invention works without confusing our audience, and to also entertain them with some jokes we added in our script. For an example, our homeroom teacher mrs. Fujimoto agreed to be Tierra's grandma even though she is not, which made the whole class burst into laughter. Even mr. Sanderl when we were about to upload it!

I think the best team moment during the production, was when we were filming the part when I threw the flower at Christina. I think it was the best team moment because we really bonded and had fun. Plus, we all laughed when we watched myself (in point of view) throwing a flower at Christina, while she tries to dodge it. Another great team moment during the production, was when we filmed Tierra standing next to our homeroom teacher, mrs. Fujimoto. This scene was also was very funny and was fun to film with my team.

During post-production editing, we took turns on different jobs like, events, visuals, and audio. I mostly did the events, Tierra did visuals, and Christina did audio. Overall, I think this is one of my best projects and I think it was a great idea to be partners with Tierra and Christina.I hope you liked this blog post. Also, I hope you guys will have a great Thanksgiving. Bye!

Composition Scavenger Hunt

P3T1_Composition_2015 from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Hi guys it's Hailee with another dorky post! Last week, I did a Composition Scavenger Hunt with my friends Christina and Tierra.

Their is 20 different kinds of composition techniques but, we all only got 10 composition techniques to film depending on what our team number was. In this project we had to make a video on some filming techniques using objects from school. I think the most important composition technique is contrast in content. This is my opinion because it draws the viewers eye to the subject by color, shape, or objects. In my opinion, I think it's a great way of capturing a pop of color in everyday life.
To be honest, I think the most difficult composition technique is forced foreground. Even though I did not film this technique, I saw the videos my classmates made and then I noticed some of them had a hard time filming the object they were holding. Instead of the camera focusing on the object they were holding, the camera was focusing on the person holding that object. Forced foreground is one of the composition techniques I have learned. You can use this technique more by placing the camera as close as you can to the object.

For this project, we would alternate who would film, who would read, and who would be the actor. I was mostly the actor even though I filmed a lot and explained how to use that composition technique. Tierra would mostly film and speak and Christina would sometimes speak. I personally think we could of done better by using pad because some of our clips were cut off. Some shots we can approve on is Rule of Thirds scenery, Leading lines, and Framing.Even though we need to improve some of these techniques, I think this was a great project and was very fun to do. I hope you liked this blog post and make sure you check out Tierra and Christina's blog. Bye!

Cracking the Code

Hi guys its Hailee with another blog post! So, this week i've been learning how to code. In my class, we have been on this website called " Studio Code" and have been practicing our coding skills. I think that everybody should learn how to code because, most jobs include coding. Also, coding can give you many ideas about inventions that would include coding.

Mr. Sanderl assigned us our first lesson of coding on a coding website. The website was designed to teach kids how to code. Their would be different levels from 1-20 that we would have to solve in order to get a certificate. So far, I have passed lesson 1 and will move on to lesson 2, 3, 4, etc. During my few days of coding, I am starting to enjoy it and excited about what comes next.

If I could design any program or game, I would create a program that would be called "Artistic". In this program, it will have mini lessons on how to become a better artist. Also, their would be a search bar to search up any character from a cartoon, a famous celebrity, scenery, etc. to learn how to draw. It would also have a social media section, where you can discover what other users have been drawing and learn how they drew it by following them. I hope you guys will like my idea bye!

My Humorous Monologue

KawakamiH_Comedy from Kapaa Middle School MEDIA on Vimeo.

Hey guys its Hailee with another dorky post! So last week we started filming our monologue and clips. In this blog post, I will be explaining what have I have learned from this project and why is padding your clips is important . So far, I learned how to use iMovie, how to take care of something with full responsibility, how our projects will be graded, and steps to make a very humorous joke. I hope you guys enjoy this post.

Why is padding important for your clips? Well, I did some research online from a website called "Blogger buster". According to blog buster, "Padding defines the space which surrounds the content within an element. " Defining the padding of each elements may be crucial in achieving a user friendly template design." That So, thanks for the definition Blogger buster!

To be honest, I actually liked this project way better than the motivational poster project because, it was very interesting how everyone else's video came out. I think my weakness was my topic because it was kinda hard to create 10 different topics on why alarm clocks are amazing (no their not). I think when you first pick a topic, try find one that you know that everybody would find funny. For an example, try do an impersonation on a famous youtuber like Miranda Sings! Wear a collared shirt with blue stripes and apply red lipstick all over you lips! Anyway, I hope you liked my post and see you in my next blog post. Bye!

Comedy writing

Hey guys it's Hailee! Hope you had a great day today. Anyway, in this blog post I will explain why is humor such a great character trait. Humor is a great character trait because it makes people laugh and breaks the ice between people during awkward  moments. It also a way to make new friends. So sit back, relax, and keep on reading my tutorial on how to create a really funny joke.

One kind of joke is a  sarcastic joke. Try think about something you dislike then, write that it's like the best thing ever! Like, saying "Homework is fun". Although, make sure your joke doesn't offend anybody. Especially no jokes based on religion, race, gender, etc. Also, you should make sure you check out with an adult if it's offensive to make sure. If you are having trouble coming up with a joke, try to jazz up a classic joke. For an example, most of you guys heard about the chicken that crossed the road, but have you heard about the pig who crossed the whole world just to go to pizza hut? For more help, click on the links on my  that will lead you to my classmates blogs for more information about comedy writing.

So, this weeks project was to create a comedic monologue. I made a joke about alarm clocks being the best thing ever, even though it's not. I wrote all the things I disliked about alarm clocks, but still made it sound like I loved it. I also added visuals to relate to every line.  I think my monologue is funny, because most people don't like alarm clocks and how they make an annoying sound every morning, so I think it would be funny to say "alarm clocks are the best invention ever!!!" Thank you guys for reading my blog and see you next time in my future blog post. Bye!

Motivational Poster

Hi guys! Hope you are having a great National dog's day. As far as my two furry friends Persephone and Kina, they really had a great day. In class we have been doing a photoshop project called "Motivational poster". In this post I will tell you the steps and what is required for this project. So sit back, relax, and and I hope my tutorial will help you in creating your very own motivational poster. In this project I used some photos from my google plus account.

First,  we need 2 text layers. One text layer is for your manifestos, the other is for your personal quotes. After that, you need to kern or adjust the spacing between a text so it would form a box. While you kern, their should be no blank space left over. It's like a jigsaw puzzle, everything has to fit. Next, you need a picture of yourself. So, I partnered with my friend, Christina. We both took turns taking pictures. Then, we had to upload the photos to the computer for photoshop. After that, we arranged our four photos and made sure they were visually balanced. Then, we had to pick a color from the triadic color wheel. Now you have to use the colors for your photos and text.

I hope that you found my tutorial helpful on making your very own motivational poster. I think the most challenging step is, kerning because you have to adjust the spacing between text and make words either tall, short, narrow, or wide. It takes days! Anyway, stay tuned for my future blog posts. Bye!

Personal Manifesto

Hi my name is Hailee and i'm going to tell you 5 unique facts about me so you can get to know me better. One unique fact about me is that I like to play video games with my dad.  Secondly,  I love reading horror stories. Another fact about me, is that my horoscope is pieces which means I'm born in February. I also love drawing. Especially anime! Lastly, I went to Japan for the first time this past summer break. I went to Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, and Tokyo. I love Japan's food, culture, people, shopping malls, and it's technology. Ever since I went to Japan, I've been wishing to go back.

A manifesto is a statement that you believe in and motivates you. Some manifestos  that make me motivated and inspire are, don't dream it be it, laugh, be grateful, choose to be kind, work hard, study hard, be helpful, smile, have fun,  give everything an 100% effort, inspire, stand up for the people you love, girl power, you shouldn't care what other people think,  trust who you think should be trusted, keep trying, and aim to be bold. The reason why I am telling you all of this is because this blog is used for my computer  class.

I believe that my manifesto relates to a majority of readers because I feel that my values and my beliefs are representative of the thoughts, ideas, and beliefs, of the majority at large.
Thank you for reading my blog and I will continue writing in the future.
